A little bit about me. I’ve spent my entire life surrounded by plants. My mom bought a client list for interior plant maintenance in 1994 and began The Plant Lady. I would go with her during the summer to pick off yellow leaves and dust off Ficus and Snake plants in restaurants, offices, and car dealerships. The Plant Lady was all but forgotten, by me, when I went away to college to be an engineer, or an artist, or a linguist… but I could never quite figure out my path. Four years ago, I moved to Florida and saw the house plants that I had grown up with in their natural habitat. I felt like an ant among the towering Croton and Date Palm. Coals were stoked deep inside me and my passion for greenery was re-ignited. After a few unsuccessful attempts at getting hired at any of the local Florida nurseries, my wife and I moved back home to good old North Carolina to become part of my mom’s business.
I enrolled in the Horticulture Department at Alamance Community College, quit my job at a local restaurant, and started working part time at a local landscaping company. When my school schedule and work schedule collided, I was hired by ACC to be their greenhouse manager. I also took an internship at a landscaping company in Apex, NC, measuring and estimating for maintenance contracts. I learned a lot about the business side of things working at there and we decided that The Plant Lady would expand into exterior residential landscaping and agriscaping. I began to pick up a few small jobs cleaning up my mom’s church friends’ landscapes. This brings us to today, as a graduate of Alamance Community College, I am looking for more challenging work. My goal now is to help you create your dream landscape. Using your vision and my skills, we will build the landscape you have always wanted.
